Wes Anderson is set to launch production on his 10th film, following this year’s stop-motion animation outing Isle of Dogs.
And, according to French outlet Sud Ouest, the director has chosen to film for fourth months in Angoulême, located in southwestern France and the capital of the country’s Charente department.
Anderson has certainly dallied with French style and talent – working with the likes of Léa Seydoux and Mathieu Amalric – but has yet to set one of his pictures in the country, despite living there for several years now.
However, there’s no word yet on who Anderson will call upon to fill out the film’s cast, or what exactly the nature of the project entails, outside of the fact it will take place immediately after WWII. Filming is set to begin in February 2019.
Part of Anderson’s crew is expected to arrive at the location to prep for filming this fall, which is set to make a splash in the region, considering it’s not usually frequented by American directors and their productions.
However, the director has a history of working in Europe, with production on Isle of Dogs taking place at London’s 3 Mills Studios, while The Grand Budapest Hotel was largely filmed in Görlitz, Germany.
