Wentz disappoints, Commanders fall hard, 24-10

I’m so tired of this from the Washington “Football Team.”

The Washington Commanders managed to get us all excited, only to disappoint us again. The Commanders laid an egg today at home, losing 24-10 to the Cleveland Browns.

One month ago, the Commanders were 7-5. They have managed to play the last four games without a win (0-3-1). They entered the game knowing the Browns were one of the weaker teams in the NFL against the run, yet the Commanders could not muster enough of a run game, generating only 3.7 yards per attempt.

Carson Wentz threw three interceptions today. All three were the result of poor decision-making by Wentz. The first interception occurred on the third play of the game when Wentz dropped back and stared at McLaurin, passed to McLaurin, and was promptly intercepted.

The second occurred when Wentz predetermined where he was going with the ball, throwing directly into double coverage. Frustratingly, the check down was wide open and early enough that Wentz had plenty of time to go there, but his mind was determined.

Trailing 24-10, Wentz again forced a ball into double coverage intended for Jahan Dotson. The check down was again open, and the odds of the pass to Dotson being completed were minuscule. Yet, where did Wentz decide to throw the ball? Of course, he did.

Why?

Coach Ron Rivera talked of a spark being needed as to why he benched Taylor Heinicke for Wentz. There was no spark, and one has to question what type of urgency the Commanders even showed with that lackluster third quarter. And “lackluster” is kind.

Nothing to show for the last month of this season. You know, just like 2021.
