A murder investigation has been launched after a man was shot dead in London.

The victim, believed to be in his 30s, was found with critical gunshot wounds in Harrow Road, Wembley, at about 8.10pm on Friday.

Armed police and local officers were called to the scene along with paramedics.

The man was taken to a north London hospital but died a short while later.

Police say his next of kin have been informed but formal identification has not yet taken place.

A post-mortem examination is due to take place.

A crime scene remains in place and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
