Wembley pitch is 'outright disturbing' for Tottenham vs PSV clash, says Mark van Bommel

PSV Eindhoven boss Mark van Bommel says he is shocked by the state of the Wembley pitch ahead of Tuesday's Champions League clash.

NFL markings and surface damage, particularly on the flanks, were clearly visible in Spurs’ 1-0 defeat to Manchester City last week.

The pitch passed a standard pre-match inspection yesterday before PSV trained on it for around an hour but after watching the City game Van Bommel told De Telegraaf: “It’s outright disturbing. Every time I had to check whether the ball was in the sidelines. But we should not complain about it. It cannot be an excuse. Although I do not think they are happy about this in England.”

“If you are thinking about the pitch then it is not good,” he added. “You have to prepare and that is it. You cannot complain, you cannot change the situation.”

Meanwhile, Michel Vorm has admitted he is bored of not playing and says he is not sure if he will remain at Tottenham after this season.

With Spurs captain Hugo Lloris suspended, Vorm, 35, faces a battle with Paulo Gazzaniga to start tonight.

Vorm is out of contract in the summer and he told Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf: “I think I have a few good years for myself. I feel very good. It’s always boring to sit on the bench.”
