Wembley passes pitch inspection ahead of Tottenham's crucial Champions League clash

Uefa have confirmed Tuesday’s Champions League tie between Tottenham and PSV Eindhoven will go ahead after passing a pitch inspection.

Tottenham’s last home match against Manchester City last Monday was played on a surface left in a particularly poor condition and still covered in NFL markings after a game there 24 hours earlier.

Three NFL matches were played at the home of English football in October with the venue also hosting Anthony Joshua’s world heavyweight title fight on 22 September.

A pitch assessment held by Wembley stadium management took place on Monday with Uefa confirming the game will take place as scheduled.

PSV were scheduled to train at Wembley as per Champions League rules at 6pm this evening.

Spurs find themselves in a must-win situation against the Dutch club having been held to a draw in the reverse fixture in Eindhoven a fortnight ago.

That draw earned them their first point of their group campaign following defeats to Inter Milan and Barcelona.
