Welshman, 30, dies in Vietnam after falling from hotel balcony

A man died after reportedly jumping from the balcony of his hotel in Vietnam, an inquest opening has heard.

Gethin Roberts, 30, from Bonvilston, in the Vale of Glamorgan, died on May 8 in Da Nang city.

An inquest at Pontypridd Coroners' Court on Thursday heard Mr Roberts was reported to have taken his own life by jumping from the 12th floor of his hotel in the coastal city.

Coroner's officer Lauren Howitt told the brief hearing Mr Roberts "was reported to have taken his own life by jumping off his balcony".

His body was repatriated back to Wales and a post-mortem examination was carried out which recorded a provisional cause of death as multiple injuries.

Coroner Rachel Knight expressed her condolences to Mr Roberts' family and adjourned his inquest to take place on May 27 next year.
