Welsh team joke about Alexis Sanchez transfer after Manchester United star spotted

Welsh side Llandudno FC have joked on Twitter about why Alexis Sanchez was spotted in the seaside town ahead of the Champions League clash against Barcelona.

The Chilean was spotted by a fan with his two dogs Atom and Humber as he walked on Llandudno pier on Monday and when the pictures started circulating on social media Llandudno FC saw it as prime opportunity to have a joke.

The side, who play in the Welsh Premier League, tweeted: "We cannot comment on these rumours at this time." They also tagged the Chilean in the post along with the eyes emoji.

The former Arsenal man has been sidelined with a knee injury since the start of March and there has been plenty of speculation about his future after he has failed to impress since making the switch from the Emirates in January last year.

Following his trip to the seaside he was back in training with the rest of the first team ahead of United's Champions League quarter final first leg clash against Barcelona at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

While it was a boost for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Sanchez that he was finally back in training, the United manager confirmed the game against his former side was too soon to make his return.

"It was his first training session today with the team, he’s done lots of recovery work," Solskjaer said. "He is injury free. Train with the team, probably in the squad for West Ham on Saturday. He is not going to be able to join in tomorrow."
