Welsh singer Rhydian Roberts' mum is critically ill after a fall

Welsh singer Rhydian Roberts has said his mum is critically ill in hospital after a fall.

The entertainer, who came second in the fourth series of X Factor, said he "felt sick to the core" about his mum Angela.

He said on Twitter: "My sweet mum is in a critical condition in hospital after a severe fall. I feel sick to my core and devastated. Please pray for her, I know she’d appreciate it. Her name is Angela."

Angela, who has been the director of the Crossroads Caring for Carers charity in Cardiff, has always taken pride in her son's achievements.

The pair have always been close, with X Factor host Dermot O'Leary even dubbing her "Mrs Rhydian".

When he was on the show, viewers would see her every Saturday night jumping up and down in the X Factor audience and screaming at the top of her voice while wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with her son’s picture.

Fans have been sending him messages of support after he shared his tweet.

One wrote: "So very sorry your mum is hurt. You must be devastated but need to be strong for her."

Another added: "So very sorry your mum is hurt. You must be devastated but need to be strong for her."
