Team GB's Hannah Mills has written herself into the history books by becoming the most successful female sailor in Olympic history.
Mills, who hails from Dinas Powys, won gold alongside Eilidh McIntyre in the women's 470 class in what was her third Olympic Games, having previously earned a silver in London and a gold out in Rio alongside previous partner Saskia Clark.
Mills and McIntyre dominated the regatta at Enoshima, winning two races and only twice finishing out side the top four, a record that handed them an impressive 14-point lead heading into the final medal race.
The pair only needed a place in the top seven in the final race to claim gold, a requirement they met with ease, finishing in fifth place.
Mills, who was also handed the honour of being Britain's flagbearer at the opening ceremony of the games, joined up with McIntyre when Clark retired after the games in Rio.
It is a debut Olympic medal for new partner McIntyre as she followed in the footsteps of her father Mike, who claimed gold at Seoul in 1988.
The victory continues a hugely successful two days for British sailors, with this latest victory taking Team GB's sailing tally up to three gold medals, with Dylan Fletcher and Stuart Bithell successful in the 49er and Giles Scott in the Finn on Tuesday.
it's the second best tally for the team after the 2008 games in Beijing, where they won six medals, including four golds.
