Welsh Rugby Union set to make extra £3million from increasing Six Nations ticket prices - reports

The Welsh Rugby Union stand to make an extra £3million from this season's Six Nations Championship from a hike in ticket prices for their three games at the Principality Stadium.

The 2019 Grand Slam winners kick off the defence of their Six Nations title at home to Italy on February 1 and also have games in Cardiff against France and Scotland.

And The Rugby Paper report WRU bosses are set to cash in on the Grand Slam success of Wales and Warren Gatland's side reaching the semi-finals of the Rugby World Cup in Japan with a £15 increase in ticket prices for the Six Nations.

Three full houses at the 74,500-seater Principality Stadium would generate a little over £3m for the WRU coffers.

With Wales' home games with England and Ireland seeing top-priced tickets increased to an all-time high of £110, fans going to the games against Scotland and France will have to fork out £105 in 2020 - an increase of £15.

The Six Nations opener with Italy, which is traditionally the toughest match to try and generate a full house for in Cardiff, is also having an increase of £15 for those tickets going up from £60 to £75.

Those prices are cheaper than the tickets for the knockout stages of the Rugby World Cup while England in autumn 2018 charged £195 for the best seats at Twickenham against the All Blacks and successfully sold out.
