Welsh rugby fans belt out stadium-worthy rendition of national anthem during Spanish coronavirus lockdown

They might be confined to a Spanish hotel because of coronavirus, but nothing is going to stop these Welsh rugby fans from having a good time.

On the day Wales were meant to play their last Six Nations game against Scotland, a group of Welsh holiday-makers discovered they had to stay in their hotel in Benidorm.

But keen to make the most of a bad situation, the tourists soon joined together to have a drink by the bar.

And it's not long before they start blasting out a stadium-worthy rendition of the national anthem - which can be heard from the very top floors of the hotel.

A video of the spine-tingling moment was posted to social media by Darren Murray on Saturday, along with the caption: "Quarantined to the hotel. You'll never keep the Welsh from singing."

Filmed from a top-floor balcony - overlooking the bar on the ground floor - the singing was said to be heard for miles around.

And it didn't take long before the footage went viral - gathering more than 250,000 views overnight.

A number of people commented on the video, describing the spectacle as "amazing" and "brilliant".

Commenting on the post, one person wrote: "You sound like you're in the stadium," while others wrote: "This is class", "love it" and "goosebumps".

Another Facebook user also said: "You’ll make your own fun. You’ll have the whole hotel joining in with you by end of the day."

Wales' Six Nations match against Scotland was called off at the last minute on Friday afternoon.

The WRU made the decision to postpone the fixture, which was due to take place at the Principality Stadium on Saturday, despite announcing on Friday morning that the game would go ahead.

But the situation changed dramatically after confirmed coronavirus cases in Wales increased.

There were  22 new cases of coronavirus diagnosed in Wales , Public Health Wales confirmed on Saturday, bringing the total number with Covid-19 to 60.

Across the UK,  the death toll doubled  with 10 more deaths reported on Saturday taking the total number who have lost their lives because of Covid-19 here to 21.

The number of cases across the UK also rose massively - up from 798 yesterday to 1,140 today - a rise of 342 in just a day. One of the cases is  a newborn baby .
