An animal rescue centre that took on 57 Labradors in one week received 800 applications for them in just one hour after announcing the news.
Many Tears Animal Rescue in Cefneithin, Carmarthenshire, welcomed the dogs which had been destined to become working service animals seeking illegal drugs and explosives.
Since revealing their huge intake they have now announced on Facebook that they have now closed applications and regret that they will not be able to consider any further applications at this time.

The rescue said: "Thank you to everyone who has expressed an interest in rehoming our Labrador puppies. We have received well over 800 applications for them in the last hour and so we are now closing applications and we regret we will not be able to consider any further applications at this time."
Speaking at the weekend about the special delivery, Many tears owner Sylvia Van Atta said: "They all came from somebody with a contract to look after dogs going to be trained as bomb or drug dogs.
"But they have decided not to continue with that.
"There are a lot of young dogs, and they all needed worming but they are well socialised. They had been bred for working and prepared to be service dogs.
"They are busy, happy and friendly dogs and any home needs to be a busy family. They are dogs that want to be doing something.
"They are bred for their brains and they are very agile. So they are ok to be pets, but they need someone who will throw balls, who will stimulate them.
"They are not dogs who will be happy to just sit by the fire all the time"

The animal rescue centre is now going through applications and and will contact all successful applicants as soon they can.
They added: "Please do not be disheartened if you were not successful, we simply have been overwhelmed by an unprecedented amount of lovely applications and we do not have enough Lab pups for all.
"Thank you once again for supporting these beautiful pups, for your kind words and lovely gifts and to those who have come to play with them at the rescue. We will continue to be there for dogs that need us and help all breeds of dogs that need help. For information on other dogs looking for homes please keep an eye on the website."
