The Dragons are reportedly considering making another raid on the English Premiership by bringing Leicester Tigers pay rebel Greg Bateman to Rodney Parade.
The region have already brought in Welsh international back Jonah Holmes from the Welford Road giants and are set to bolster their front five forwards with the arrival of lock Will Rowlands from Wasps.
And they have also acquired the services of Welsh centre Nick Tompkins on a season-long loan deal from Saracens.
With a formidable back division being assembled at the Dragons, The Rugby Paper reports the region are looking to beef-up their front-row resources and are looking at powerful prop Bateman.
He was one of five Tigers players to leave the Midlands club earlier this month after failing to agree new wage deals.
While England centre Manu Tuilagi has joined Sale Sharks, 31-year-old Surrey-born Bateman, who is thought to have Welsh qualifications, remains a free agent since leaving Leicester.
He played 92 times for the Tigers since making the move from Exeter Chiefs back in 2015.
The loosehead would be a significant acquisition for the Dragons with Bateman's ball-carrying and hard running going down a storm with Tigers fans.
He spent two seasons with London Welsh before moving to Exeter and Dragons boss Dean Ryan said: "We are always interested in quality players.
"It's an interesting and difficult time for every region in terms of their finances, but at the same time we've got to be responsible as a team to keep developing.
"Every good Welsh player is of interest to us. We want to talk to all of them. Making the Dragons a conversation piece around us being a potential home for these players is significant progress from where we were last year."
The Dragons could also add another marquee name to their star-studded back division with the region remaining in the hunt for Wales and Lions centre Jamie Roberts.
Roberts is believed to have held lengthy talks with the Dragons but reports surfaced on the weekend of an unnamed American club tabling an offer to take the midfield battering ram to the United States.
Roberts would be able to join former Harlequins team-mate Chris Robshaw in America.
Links with Leicester Tigers also refuse to go away despite the club last week signing Argentina centre Matias Moroni.
