A Welsh Conservative minister shared a photo of how his family watched the King's speech on Christmas day. Tom Giffard, the shadow minister for culture, tourism and sport, shared a photo of himself and his family on Twitter wearing masks of the Royal Family ahead of the annual speech.
Posting the photo he captioned it: "Merry Christmas everyone - we take watching the Kings Speech very seriously in the Giffard Household!". The image showed various family members donned in face masks of the late Queen, and her husband Prince Philip, Prince William and Kate, Prince Harry and Charles himself.
But many people were not impressed with the get up, with some even branding it "cult" like. The post has been viewed over 38,000 times and has dozens of replies. The minister has chosen not to reply to any of the comments.
And people didn't hold back, one person said: “We take bootlicking very seriously in the Giffard household”, while another added: "Cult-like levels of weird this mate."
Another said: "Mate that’s exceptionally weird, even by ‘Welsh’ Tory standards. This behaviour is embarrassing for yourself, your constituents and Wales as a whole. Please, for everyone’s sake, stop!"
The majority of the comments asked where was Prince Andrew's mask, as the disgraced royal was noticeably absent from the Giffard family get up. One person said: "Nobody wanted Prince Andrew?" and another added "I’m guessing the photographer is the one in the Prince Andrew mask?”
