Welsh police catch two Scottish drivers flouting strict lockdown travel restrictions 'to visit friends'

Two drivers from Scotland who flouted strict lockdown travel restrictions to 'visit friends' in Wales have been caught by police.

Officers from North Wales Police stopped the pair in the Valley area of Anglesey on Friday night and discovered they had driven a distance of over 200 miles from Scotland, North Wales Live reports.

The pair were also found to be driving without insurance. Both have been reported for breaching covid travel restrictions.

In a short statement, the force said: "Two drivers reported in Valley for driving without insurance. Also reported for breaching covid travel restrictions having travelled from Scotland to see friends."

Under current Scottish law, given the state of the epidemic, unless you have a reasonable excuse you must not travel between Scotland and the rest of the UK.

And under current strict lockdown rules, you can only leave your home (or garden) in a Level 4 area in Scotland for an essential purpose.
