Welsh pet food company wins at global branding awards attended by Coca Cola, Apple and McDonald's

A pet food firm in rural Wales has won a global branding prize.

Betws-y-Coed-based company Pero Foods has won the World Branding Award for Best Dry Dog food.

The award ceremony, which was held at the Hofburg Palace in Vienna, saw a number of heavyweights from around the globe within the pet food industry receiving awards in numerous categories.

More than 800 brands from 35 countries were nominated at this year’s awards, with more than 60,000 votes coming from consumers around the world.

Winners were judged through three streams – brand valuation, consumer market research and public online voting.

Coca Cola, Apple, McDonald’s and Louis Vuitton are all previous winners in their respective categories.

Pero’s director Jonathan Rees said: “We are incredibly honoured to have received this prestigious award for the second time.

"Pero has seen massive growth over the last couple of years and I’m delighted to see that all the hard work is paying off.”

Richard Rowles, chairman of the World Branding Forum, said: “This is a celebration of the hard work that goes into building great brands.

“As over 70% of the voting is done by consumers, winners of the awards clearly demonstrate that they’ve built strong brand loyalty among their customers and fans.”
