Police have confirmed that a man who vanished after he flew out to Africa in March for a holiday died whilst abroad. Last month, Dyfed Powys Police had appealed for information about the whereabouts of Michael Costain, from Powys.
He had travelled to Gambia on March 8 but did not return to Wales as planned. The 69-year-old, from Rhayader, had been due to return to the UK on March 20, but was not on the flight he was supposed to come home on.
Dyfed-Powys Police had said it was believed that he had stayed in the Busumbala area of Western Gambia for two days before leaving with the intention to travel to Abene Village in Cassamance in the Southern part of Senegal. But on Friday (May 19), police confirmed the sad news that Michael had died, and that there were no suspicious circumstances.
