Welsh-language paper funding upset

A group hoping to set up a Welsh-language daily newspaper have accused the assembly of breaking a promise by offering a £600,000 funding package. It was well below what had been hoped for by Dyddiol, the group which aims to launch Y Byd. A report to the assembly concluded that Dyddiol had made "a strong case in principle" but noted "the viability of a Welsh-language daily newspaper has not been fully demonstrated."
