Welsh holiday firm loved by Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash devastated after being hit by Instagram scammers

Hackers are demanding money from a Welsh holiday company that has been booked out since Joe Swash and Stacey Solomon shared pictures of a family staycation in Wales last summer.

The television stars and their three children stayed in a 'hobbit hole' glamping pod in Rhayader to celebrate Stacey's 31st birthday.

The couple shared pictures on their popular Instagram page and holiday let site Underground Houses was inundated with new followers and bookings. But the owners are concerned they will lose it all after hackers attacked their social media page.

They had gone from having 5,000 followers to more than 150,000 in just 24 hours after Stacey shared pictures of her holiday, but now the owners are devastated after the Instagram account was hacked and all but three pictures were deleted.

The hacker has changed the name of the account and is demanding money before he will give the account back.

It has happened just days before First Minister Mark Drakeford is likely to announce that self-contained holiday accommodation in Wales will be able to re-open in time for the Easter holidays on Good Friday (April 2).

Gemma Williams said: "Our first guests to stay with us were Stacey Solomon and her family, she enjoyed it so much she shared it on her Instagram and we were inundated with new followers.

"This has created the main platform for our business and not only booked all of the Underground Houses out for 2021, but all of the school holidays of 2022 also.

"We have used this to set up a mini agency type business where we have secured many many bookings for not only ourselves but other owners alike. All of these bookings are driven through Instagram.

"Unfortunately our Instagram account has been hacked and taken over by somebody else, the person has deleted everything off it besides three pictures.

"They have changed the name of the account and everything else with it. The person is demanding money from us and then he will give us the account back."

She said it was frustrating that they had been trying to get hold of Instagram for advice on how to recover the account, and they are "devastated" that all their hard work building up the account had been lost.

"Stacey Solomon out of the kindness of her heart changed our lives forever, and if we can not recover our Instagram account, our little Welsh business will be all over, all because Instagram have made it so hard for account holders to get through to someone," Gemma added.

Instagram has been contacted by WalesOnline and say they are "investigating" the matter.
