Welsh Government appear to rule out Covid Pass extension as 'no significant changes' planned

Welsh Government looks unlikely to extend the Covid pass to pubs, restaurants and cafes at the review tomorrow as a statement is released saying no "significant changes" are due to be made.

First Minister Mark Drakeford is set to hold the three week review of restrictions in Wales at lunchtime on Friday.

This week UK Government moved to implement 'Plan B' from Monday with Covid passes for concerts, events and nightclubs.

Wales already had these measures in place and there had been speculation Welsh Government could increase restrictions in Wales due to growing concerns over the Omicron variant.

But a statement has been released indicating little change at this point.

This should mean Covid passes will not be rolled out to pubs, restaurants and cafes at this stage.

A Welsh Government spokesperson said: “While there is increasing concern about the omicron variant, we do not anticipate making significant changes to the existing regulations at the moment.”
