Ayr’s only basement pub is up for sale at offers over £350,000.
Nan O’Brien plans to retire after 28 years behind the bar of Wellingtons in Ayr.
She and her late husband Mick loved running the bar.
Nan admitted: “I have a big birthday coming up and would like to have more time to enjoy other things.”
Wellies, as it’s known, was first put on the map by David and Janey Gibson. Under Nan’s tenure it won multiple Real Ale awards.
Kevin Bell, partner in the Ayr office of selling agent Shepherd said: “The business is essentially wet sales led and is indeed an award-winning Real Ale venue, with food sales limited to lunchtimes only.
"While the bar has been consistently profitable and is showing increasing levels of turnover, there is scope to further develop trade, particularly the food side.
“With the bar qualifying for 100 per cent rates remission under the Small Business Bonus Scheme, we anticipate keen interest.”The sale includes a two-bedroom flat.
