Four guns and cocaine were seized as a well-known Dublin gang were stung after searches of three vehicles in the northside last night.
A large number of officers searched a domestic premises and two vehicles in a residential estate in Finglas where they uncovered one of the firearms in the huge intelligence-led operation.
A handgun, ammunition and €18,000 worth of cocaine, which had been divided and bagged into smaller quantities, was seized by Gardai there.
During the search of a second car, Gardaí recovered a sawn-off 'Browning' shotgun, SAKO rifle, Rifle 22 with scope, and further ammunition.
All four guns have been sent to the Ballistics Unit for analysis with both vehicles being seized by Gardai for further examination also.
A Garda spokesman told Dublin Live that investigations into the discoveries are ongoing.
He said: "The search operation was conducted by Gardaí from the Divisional Drug Unit, the K Divisional Task Force and the District Detective Unit, with assistance from the Armed Support Unit, following intelligence received relating to an ongoing investigation into the sale and supply of drugs in the Finglas area."
