'Well-established retailer' set to take over unit inside new Broadmarsh complex

A 'well-established retailer' has signed up to over up a unit inside the new Broadmarsh car park and bus station complex.

A total of six units will be opened inside the new building opposite the former shopping centre, five of which will front on to Carrington Street and one other at the rear of the bus station concourse.

Nottingham City Council has now confirmed heads of terms have been agreed with a retailer to take on a unit at the bus concourse.

The authority has not released the name of the company on the grounds of commercial sensitivity.

In a delegated decision issued on the council website, a report stated: “The lessee, a well-established retailer, is considered a good fit for this unit and the financial terms reflect the market value.”

The council said that failure to lease the unit soon would run the risk of retaining a vacant unit that produces no income.

It is hoped the new car park and bus station will open this autumn.

In February, Councillor David Mellen, leader of Nottingham City Council, said: “Our new Broadmarsh development is transformative for the area and will be a real asset to the whole area, complementing the Lace Market and surrounding area and setting a standard for future developments in the city."
