'Welcome to Rhinos family' - Leeds handed major boost as David Fusitu'a arrives

Leeds Rhinos have been handed a major boost after overseas signing David Fusitu’a arrived in England to link up with Richard Agar’s squad.

Fusitu'a is one of four major signings to have joined Leeds for the 2022 campaign but did not arrive in time for the start of pre-season training as he awaited a work permit.

That has now been granted, allowing him to travel to the UK and arrive on Monday evening.

The Rhinos’ official Twitter account posted a picture of Fusitu’a with his partner and child along with the words: “Look who's landed. Welcome to the Rhinos family to our latest signing David Fusitu'a and his family who arrived in the UK this evening.”

Nearly two months ago, Leeds announced the signing of the Tonga winger on a two-year contract from New Zealand Warriors.

The 27-year-old Fusitu'a, who was the Warriors' longest-serving player, had two years left on his contract with the Auckland club and it is thought the Warriors will pay a proportion of his Leeds salary.

Fusitu'a, whose hat-trick famously helped Tonga beat New Zealand in the group stages of the 2017 World Cup, scored 61 tries in 108 appearances for the Warriors.
