'Welcome to Hotel GMP' - police warn people to stay out of trouble over the bank holiday

People have taken to social media to praise Greater Manchester Police after they dubbed a station 'Hotel GMP Ashton' to deter troublemakers over the Easter Weekend.

The post advertised the station's 'Easter Bank Holiday Special' to show that ending up behind bars would not be the relaxing Easter Bank Holiday many of us want.

The police joked about their station to try and deter troublemakers from ending up behind bars (GMPAshton)

It offered 'premier accommodation with lots of bars' and culinary delights from the 'state of the art microwave'.

Police also joked that visitors would be offered a 'chauffeur to hotel from our friendly staff' as well as a photograph on arrival.

After posting the picture, GMP Tameside North said: "Just a reminder, have an enjoyable and safe Easter Bank holiday. We are open 24/7, 7 days a week, 365 days a year..."
