‘Welcome to Chelsea’ - Blues fans send transfer message after what Jules Kounde did vs Barcelona

Chelsea fans have demanded that the Blues make a move for former target Jules Kounde after his red card against Barcelona.

The French defender was shown a straight red card on Tuesday evening as Sevilla hosted the Catalan giants at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

With the scores level at 1-1, Kounde was involved in a confrontation with Barcelona defender Jordi Alba. The Spaniard appeared to push the Sevilla man whilst trying to receive a ball that had gone out of play.

In retaliation, Kounde elected to throw the ball into Alba’s face, leaving the referee with little choice but to hand the Frenchman his marching orders - the second sending-off of the 23-year-old’s career.

Despite the incident, it did not appear to put off Chelsea fans, who were keen for the Blues to renew their interest in Kounde.

Here is the best of their responses on social media following the defender’s dismissal.

Kounde was of course strongly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge throughout the summer as the Londoners attempted to bolster their defence following the departures of Marc Guehi, Fikayo Tomori and Kurt Zouma.

In the end, Chelsea refused to pay Sevilla’s asking price for the Europa League winner but the reports over their interest have not been dampened.

Questions remain over the Blues’ current defensive options, with four players - Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, Cesar Azpilicueta and Thiago Silva - set to be out of contract come the end of the campaign.

Kounde still has two-and-a-half years left to run on his current contract with Sevilla having arrived from French outfit Bordeaux ahead of the 2019/20 campaign.
