'Welcome to Arsenal!' - Sergio Ramos sent transfer message after Real Madrid announcement

Arsenal have been tipped to bring back Martin Odegaard this summer after a successful loan spell.

However, it's another Real Madrid player that some Gunners supporters have their eyes on and it's a central defender that could save the club millions in the summer transfer market.

After 16 years of service, it was announced on Wednesday night that Sergio Ramos will leave Los Blancos when his contract officially expires at the end of the month.

A statement via the La Liga giants' official website reads: "Real Madrid C. F. announces that today, Thursday 17 June, at 12:30 p.m., an institutional act of tribute and farewell to our captain Sergio Ramos will be held, which will be attended by our president Florentino Pérez.

"Sergio Ramos will then appear before the media in a virtual press conference."

As expected, given that a player of Ramos' calibre is now on the market and can be signed for free, the rumour mill has gone into overdrive.

According to reports in Spain, Ramos' next move has already been revealed.

They claim the 35-year-old is expected to go to Paris to play for PSG alongside the likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe or London which might raise the prospect of a switch to Arsenal.

Whilst the Gunners reportedly submitted a bid believed to be in the region of £40m for Brighton defender Ben White, some fans are urging Mikel Arteta and Edu to make an approach for Ramos.
