'Welcome to Arsenal!' - Moises Caicedo triggers Instagram transfer frenzy ahead of Emirates trip

Arsenal vs Brighton & Hove Albion is a fixture of huge importance for both clubs and for differing reasons.

The Gunners know they have to win in order to have any chance of being crowned Premier League champions for the first time since the 2003/04 Invincibles campaign, whilst the Seagulls - fresh off losing 5-1 at home to Everton on Monday evening - still have hopes of sealing a top-four finish and thus qualifying for the Champions League.

But an interesting subplot to the big game at the Emirates Stadium is Moises Caicedo. Had things turned out differently in January the Ecuador international may have been lining up for the hosts against his former club, however, he will be tasked with denting the north London outfit's title hopes instead.

This is after Arsenal had two bids for the midfielder rejected during the final days of the transfer window and with the 21-year-old since signing a new contract with Brighton, which isn't thought to have included a release clause, it could take a huge sum to prize him away from the Amex Stadium in the near future.

But what is certain is the midfielder's availability for Roberto De Zerbi's side on Sunday. This is good news for the Italian especially with Solly March ruled out which means the Seagulls head to the Emirates without as many as seven senior players including Adam Webster, Adam Lallana and Tariq Lamptey.

Taking to social media ahead of the game, Caicedo uploaded a few images of him in training to Instagram and this particular post prompted a huge response from Arsenal supporters who made it clear that N5 should become his permanent home after the summer transfer window.

For example, kristianmatic said: "Come to Arsenal", adekunle_aloma said: "Arsenal all the way...welcome to red London", allancosmiranda said: "Welcome to Arsenal, Moises", afikric said: "Welcome to the Emirates Stadium" and minteputh said: "Come to Arsenal Caice."

As for these Arsenal fans getting their wish to sign Caicedo this summer, that remains to be seen but he is a player that remains of interest to Mikel Arteta and it would appear that the 21-year-old would be open to a move. "I'm sure I’m going to have many more opportunities," he told the Telegraph last month when discussing his failed transfer to the Emirates.

"That’s why I continue to do things well. But it was tough. At the beginning when I didn’t end up going, lots of people would make fun of me on Instagram. People treated me badly. I didn’t check my social media because it would hurt me to see things.

"I'd seen a lot of Arsenal before knowing that there was a possibility of me signing for them. I watched them and I liked them because they have very young, talented players and some stars but they always have that mindset of wanting more."
