Chelsea are reportedly on the verge of completing a deal for Kai Havertz after reaching a breakthrough in talks for Bayer Leverkusen.
According to Sport Bild, the Blues have agreed an €80million (£72million) fee up front for the 21-year-old midfielder, plus a further €20million (£18m) in add-ons.
Havertz has established himself as one of Europe's most exciting talents thanks to his performances for Leverkusen this season.
And the Blues are seemingly on the verge of making the midfielder the most expensive German player of all time.
The signing would be Chelsea's third major signing of the summer after already sealing deals for striker Timo Werner and playmaker Hakim Ziyech.
The Blues are also thought to be working on deals for Leicester full-back Ben Chilwell and sign free agent Thiago Silva to bolster the defence.
Taking to social media to respond to the Havertz reports, some Chelsea supporters could not hide their excitement.
Speaking after the Blues ' 4-1 Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich at the beginning of the month, Lampard admitted that Chelsea had to strengthen this summer.
"We will look at that. We have worked at it already," he told BT Sport:
"From having a transfer ban you feel the fact that other clubs have spent and improved and recruitment is a big part of this game.
"When you look through this team, nights like tonight in a footballing sense, show me a lot.
"The season has ended. It is a very quick turnaround but now is the time to see what areas we can improve.
"But it is our job to go away and see what happens and see if we can improve.
"In a football sense I feel like I know where we can and now it is time to look at that."
