Welcome bounce is no headache for Reckitt Benckiser chief

It is not surprising to read that the chief executive of Reckitt Benckiser has seen his pay double (Reckitt chief lands £23m pay packet, 5 April). As the producer of both Nurofen and Durex, the company wins sales either way.

• You devote an editorial to social mobility (8 April), and yet again those two crucial, loaded, embarrassing words “private education” are absent from your analysis. A serious left-of-centre paper cannot go on ducking the issue.
