'Welcome!' - Arsenal fans go nuts as Atletico Madrid make Thomas Partey decision

Arsenal fans have taken to social media and are reacting to Thomas Partey starting for Atletico Madrid once again.

With just a few days remaining until the summer transfer window closes, the Gunners are still being tipped to do some late business amid links to the Ghana international and Lyon playmaker Houssem Aouar.

Addressing Mikel Arteta's midfield concerns could be key to the club's chances of challenging for the top-four and the Spaniard admits the next few days are very important.

Arsenal vs Sheffield United preview

"I think it's a crucial moment because it defines the people, the players, the balance, and the quality that you're going to have for the rest of the season," Arteta said.

"We need to make some decisions in the next three days, everything has been delayed so much, it's not only us but every team because of the context that we have at the moment, but we will try to make the best possible decisions.

"Whatever we have, we go for it fully convinced and prepared to have a good season."

But will the Gunners be able to get a deal for Partey over the line?

Well, during the course of the summer there has been a growing belief amongst the Arsenal fan base that the club will sign Partey ahead of Monday's deadline.

And despite, some eagle-eyed supporters spotting that the midfielder starts for Atletico against Villarreal - his second successive start - they are convinced it's his farewell game.

However, there's talk that Arsenal could be pipped to a deal for Partey by their London rivals Chelsea.

According to the Guardian, Partey is on the Blues' shortlist ahead of deadline day.

The report states that the west London outfit could look at alternatives to West Ham United's Declan Rice as they try to land a defensive midfielder before the transfer window closes.
