Weetabix shares recipe using chicken and cereal - but people are not impressed

Weetabix has been mocked for suggesting a 'date night' recipe using chicken AND its cereal.

People were a bit confused by the suggestion tweeted from the brand's account.

It said that followers should accompany their "cosy date night" with "Chicken Weetabix."

Which doesn't sound like a cereal we'll be tucking into any time soon.

Posting on Bonfire Night, the cereal brand said: "#BonfireNight may look a little different this year, but it's a good excuse for a cosy date night with our Chicken Weetabix recipe #HaveYouHadYourWeetabix

It then posted a picture of the coated chicken, alongside a recipe and instructions.

The recipe requires you to have: two tablespoons of light mayonnaise, two skinless chicken breast fillets, 25g fresh breadcrumbs, 25g lightly crushed Weetabix and a prepared salad.

After dipping the chicken in mayonnaise, you mix the crumbs and Weetabix with some seasoning before coating the fillets.

And as we've already said, people were pretty baffled, and disgusted by the idea.

One said: "Crushed weetabix and mayo to season chicken??? This cant be real."

"It's a pandemic, not the end of civilisation," wrote another.

A third commented: "What fresh hell is this?"

"Weetabix from a bowl is very nice. But to put it on chicken is demented," said another.

While one added a touch of humour and joked: "I was going to make this but I went for Lamb and Sugar Puffs instead."

Would you give it a go?
