Weeks after joining BJP, MS Sirsa provided 'Z' category CRPF security by Centre

AMBALA: Four weeks after he joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), former Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) president Manjinder Singh (MS) Sirsa has been provided "Z" category security cover and CRPF has already taken over the charge of his security since Monday.

Earlier, MS Sirsa had ‘Y’ category security and Delhi police security was deputed in his protection.

The Union ministry of home affairs (MHA) ordered an escalation of Sirsa’s security a few days back, said the sources.

MS Sirsa, a point person of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal who also headed Delhi unit of SAD, had given a major shock to Badal and surprise to political circles when he joined BJP on December 1. Sirsa joining BJP was the first big shock for SAD president and later a few other senior Akali leaders also joined the saffron party.

When contacted, MS Sirsa said that he had 'Y' category security earlier deputed by Government of India and had six personnel of Delhi police and now he was given 18 personnel of CRPF.

"CRPF took over the charge of my security two days back", said Sirsa.

Asked why he felt threat perception increased after joining BJP, Sirsa said: "I do not feel any threat but it is the concern of the Government of India’s security agencies to decide. I have been provided Z category security by the Government of India for the reasons best known to the intelligence. I came to know when the CRPF was deputed at my home. I am visiting Punjab and Chandigarh and the Z security is accompanying me."

To a query, whether hesought Z security, Sirsa said, "I never said so. The leadership status will be developed if they (BJP) do so and it will not get developed automatically."

He reached Chandigarh to hold meetings at Chandigarh and Mohali on Wednesday, and the CRPF security personnel accompanied him during his visit there.

A section of media reported that banned outfit Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) threatened MS Sirsa but he did not confirm any such threat while talking to TOI.

Notably, on Tuesday, Sirsa had posted a video on his Facebook, in which he slammed the banned outfit SFS allegedly for carrying out bomb blast in Ludhiana.

"Notorious organisation Sikhs for Justice is behind Ludhiana Bomb Blast. SFJ is an ISI sponsored group working with the sole aim to malign Sikhs of India & create problems btw Govt of India & Sikhs I urge GoI to issue arrest warrant for Gurpatwant Singh Pannun for his criminal involvement & anti-national activities", wrote Sirsa on his social media including Facebook and Twitter on Tuesday and tagged a video message along.

In the video, Sirsa said SFS and Pannun are defamining Sikhs in a country, to show their confrontation with the government of India.

Recently on Sunday, December 26, Union minister of home Amit Shah had also visited Delhi's residence of Sirsa and held discussion on several issues concerning the Sikh community.
