If there’s an assignment that we’re not running that you think we should please do let us know by sharing your ideas with us.
Scotland voted no to independence in yesterday’s referendum, but ahead of the vote we encouraged young people to share their photos, videos and stories about their thoughts and opinions on independence. Hayel Wartemberg sent in this inspiring spoken word video on ‘Englishness’.
"England Will Be Okay" - Short Film
Short film about the idea of Englishness in the context of the Scottish referendum.
We also received some great submissions into our Scottish independence referendum assignment, the best of which you can see here in our gallery. We’ve even created an interactive map showing your views on the build-up and aftermath of yesterday’s events.
Now that the results are in, wherever you are in the country we’d like to know whether the UK political system is working for you. You can see a selection of the responses we’ve received so far in this interactive. If you’d like to see all the contributions or take part yourself then go to GuardianWitness.
Readers’ photos are now being published on the Guardian Letters page. Many of them this week have been on the Scottish referendum, like this one sent in by Andrew Kavanagh.
Dumped?
The dust settles on the Orange Order march through Edinburgh.
Teacher Network would still like to see your photos of schools going green to save the planet and boost lessons. petercreber sent us this shot of hard-working Yr 11 students from Westfield Academy getting stuck in on the school’s allotment.

We have a City and Guilds course in Horticulture for Key Stage 4 students. We dug up an area of the grounds and built a series of raised beds which the students look after, growing food that we sell to the school canteen and the annual Summer Fair
Our first readers’ assignment on childhood friendship groups has served up some lovely nostalgia-fuelled images this week. MotherGaia shared this blast from the past from her teenage years from an interesting looking Halloween party.

I am wearing the big glasses. I am sixteen years old and now 68. Still the same person.
We have been getting some terrific images from The Heritage Open Days which happened across the country last weekend. Plenty of you seemed to take advantage of seeing architecture and culture that isn’t usually so freely accessible. Bob Weatherhead found the best spot to get a great image of the Radcliffe Camera in Oxford.

Exeter College Fellows' Garden is rarely open to the public and the only place to enjoy this view of Radcliffe Square.
The NFL kicks off its third round of matches this weekend, and we are still interested in your photos and stories about what your team means to you. ID5733280 shared this photo of the New York Jets cheerleaders practising ahead of the new season.

Do Something are still keen to find out where you do your best writing. SCDeGhett shared this photo of their own writing space, clearly unfazed by the many distractions on their writing desk.

a few feathers, a wasp's nest, a tin cup of pens . . . you know, the usual beloved debris and a little space to work
Your great football team photos just keep coming, and Will2014 has sent us this photo prior to an Everton game at Goodison Park, obviously hoping that these samba rhythms influence the team.

For some night trains have always been the best way to travel. Kevin Lo is surely one of these people, sharing this wonderful picture from the very heart of Norway on the long train journey from Oslo to Bergen.
Waking Up to Summer Snow
I'd heard tales about the night train from Oslo to Bergen, but nothing compares to waking up because of the alpine cold as the train barrels its way across the Hardangervidda, the highest plateau in Europe. Bathed in moonlight, I spent two hours in the middle of the night dazzled by the moonlight shining off of the July snow. As little congealed hamlets zip by, the train snakes through 182 wooden tunnels before pulling into warm and rainy Bergen.
While most photo errors can be corrected in the digital age, fingers obscuring the lens is still photography’s most common mistake. Culture encouraged you to share photos that had suffered this fate, and Alex Harrison obliged with this effort taken by his daughter. Considering what it is that is lurking in the photo, a lot of photographers would have trouble getting their fingers out of the way.
Spot the cobra
My 6 year old spotted a cobra on the road and grabbed mums phone to take a picture. She kept her distance so the snake is rather small, but unfortunately it is also almost obscured by the finger that got in the way.
