Weekend weather forecast: Sunny periods, mild temperatures but some overnight frost

Bright and sunny periods are predicted for the North East this weekend.

However, there is a risk of some isolated showers around the coast on both Saturday and Sunday.

The Met Office predicts mild temperatures of up to 8°C but lows of 4°C.

Here is what to expect:

Saturday

"Bright with sunny periods and variable amounts of cloud through the day. Isolated showers towards the coast but otherwise dry but chilly with a freshening breeze. Frosty again overnight. Maximum temperature 8 °C."

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday

"Bright and breezy with sunny spells through much of the period, but with some coastal showers on Sunday. Daytime temperatures becoming less cold but with overnight frosts inland."
