Weekend weather forecast: Some heavy rain expected despite temperatures reaching up to 12°C

Temperatures are set to reach up to 12°C this weekend giving us a break from bitterly cold weather.

However, there is still some heavy rain expected at times and light winds.

It will start off chilly and cloudy on Friday with outbreaks of rain but it will become milder later on.

On Saturday, spells of rain could become heavy at times and there is a risk of gales in coastal areas, however temperatures could reach up to 12°C.

Here is the full weekend forecast from the Met Office:

Friday

"Cloudy with spells of rain, especially across the Pennines, although some drier periods are likely in the east.

"Becoming mild after a locally chilly start, although temperatures will be tempered by the windy conditions, with coastal and upland gales developing. Maximum temperature 11 °C."

Friday evening

"Cloudy, mild and windy, with gales over high ground and coastal gales at first. Further outbreaks of rain will arrive, especially for the Pennines. Minimum temperature 7 °C."

Saturday

"Cloudy with spells of rain, these sometimes heavy, especially across the Pennines. Remaining mild and windy, with a risk of gales for the coast and high ground. Maximum temperature 12 °C."

Outlook from Sunday to Tuesday

"Sunday lighter winds, cloudy with outbreaks of rain gradually fading away. Monday dry but generally cloudy, with light winds. Tuesday windy with spells of rain. Average to mild temperatures."
