Ireland weather: Weekend temperatures to plummet as weather expert issues fresh Beast from the East update

Temperatures are set to plummet below freezing this weekend however there is some good news following an update on a potential Beast from the East freeze-over.

Carlow Weather's Alan O'Reilly has revealed that temperatures will drop again over the weekend, with the country set to experience falls to -3C on Saturday night.

The respected weather expert informed his followers that there will not be "severe cold" and that there will be "NO Beast from the East." He also stressed that high pressure is expected to bring a dry Bank Holiday weekend.

"Still a mainly dry outlook too with very little rain," he told his extensive online following.

Met Éireann has said today will be mostly cloudy with isolated drizzle and mist, and just occasional bright periods. Highest temperatures of 10C to 12C with a moderate to fresh south-westerly breeze.

Tonight will be largely cloudy with isolated light rain, drizzle and mist. Lowest temperatures of 5C to 8C with a moderate to fresh southerly wind.

Tomorrow, Saturday, drier and brighter weather will follow the rain and it will become colder, so afternoon temperatures will range between 6C and 7C in the northwest and 11C in the southeast.

Saturday night will be cold and dry with long clear spells. There will be widespread frost and possibly ice as temperatures fall to between -3C and 0C.

Sunday morning will be cold and frosty but it will remain dry with plenty of sunshine.

Cloud will increase through the day and patches of light rain or drizzle will develop in the southwest later. Highest temperatures of 5C to 10C, coldest in Ulster, with light to moderate southerly winds.
