An alleged stabbing at Waratah Shopping Village last weekend was the second such incident in three days, it has been confirmed.
Police on Monday were continuing their search for a man who allegedly stabbed a 26-year-old woman in the arm about 2pm on Sunday, prompting police to swarm the popular retail precinct.
The woman was taken to hospital for treatment and her alleged assailant fled the scene.
But several workers from the shopping centre have told the Newcastle Herald that Sunday's incident came after another alleged stabbing near the Coles supermarket earlier in the week.
A police spokesperson has confirmed that an alleged stabbing took place on Thursday night, but the victim did not suffer serious injuries.
No-one had been arrested in relation to Thursday's incident at the time of publication.
Police would not comment on whether the two incidents were believed to be linked.
Nor would they release a description of the alleged stabber involved in the latest incident.
Investigators are asking for anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
