
POLICE have reminded drivers that there will be several city-centre road closures over the weekend due to the Newcastle City Paratriathlon and Triathlon.
Saturday, February 20
Road closures will be in place between 5am and 9.30am:
- Nobbys Road (between Fort Drive and Wharf Rd)
- Wharf Road and Shortland Esplanade between Watt Street and Zaara Street.
- Changed conditions also in place around Scott Street, Telford Street, Zaara Street, Parnell Place and Stevenson Place
Sunday 21 February
Road closures will be in place at various foreshore and city locations between 5am and midday to support. Closures will lift as the event progresses.
- Scott Street (eastbound) between Darby Street and Watt Street
- Wharf Road/Shortland Esplanade between Watt Street roundabout and Zaara Street
- Church Street between Zaara Street and Watt Street
- Watt Street / Reserve Road between Church Street and The Terrace The Hill
- York Drive (King Edward Park)
During both events there will be no parking on these roads including the car parks at Horseshoe Beach, Nobbys Beach and Newcastle Baths.
Motorists should avoid these areas, or allow extra travel time in the area and follow the advice of traffic controllers. If you plan on attending this area consider using public transport.
