Weekend closures of west end road as construction continues on learning hub

Drivers are being warned to prepare for disruption in the west end as construction work continues at Glasgow University.

A stretch of University Avenue will be closed in both directions, between Ashton Road and University Gardens, this weekend and again in the middle of September (14 and 15).

The closures are to allow for key work to be carried out on the £90 million James McCune Smith Learning Hub, which is set to open next year.

A statement from university bosses reads: "The pavement will remain open for pedestrians. Thank you for your patience and apologies for any disruption caused."

The road closures will come into force from 6am on Saturday, August 31 and will be lifted at 6am on Monday, September 1.
