Weekend betting tips: Four bets that could make you a fortune

Christmas has come and gone and 2020 is upon us.

There was some quality sporting action right across the board over the Christmas from horse racing to football to darts.

And there's no sign of that stopping as a bumper weekend of sport takes place over the coming days.

There's inter-provincial derbies in the rugby, while the All-Ireland Club Championship semi-finals take place in both hurling and football.

The FA Cup third round sees Premier League clubs enter the competition and there's also Grade 1 racing action at both Naas and Sandown.

Here's our best bets:

Millwall to beat Newport County 12.31pm Saturday 4/11

Newport enjoyed a fairytale run in the FA Cup last year, beating Leicester and Middlesbrough before being knocked out by Manchester City.

But they've been on a poor run recently and haven't won a match in League Two since mid-October.

Meanwhile, Millwall won two of their three games since Christmas and won the other one. Back them to advance here.

Hang in There 2.25pm Sandown Saturday

The Tolworth at Sandown looks a red-hot contest with a number of the runners having won last time out.

Preference is for Hang in There for trainer Emma Lavelle, who landed a Supreme Novices' Hurdle trial at Cheltenham when last seen.

Back him to follow it up here.

Smooth Stepper 3pm Sandown Saturday 10/1

The Unibet Veterans' Handicap Chase sees some well-known names of the game line-up against each other.

King's Odyssey just edged out Smooth Stepper at Warwick in November and I think Smooth Stepper is a super each-way price on that evidence.

He is better off at the weights with King's Odyssey, but has to show that run wasn't a one off as he was pulled up in two of his three runs last season.

Southampton to beat Huddersfield 3.01pm Saturday 4/9

(PA)

The Saints go marching into the New Year after some good results in recent games.

They've beaten Spurs, Chelsea and Aston Villa in three of their last four games and confidence will be high for this match.

Huddersfield had a nightmare in midweek when losing 5-2 to Stoke and they face a tough challenge here.
