Weekend betting tips: Four bets that could make you a fortune

A relatively quiet weekend in the world of sport is ahead of us with the footballers and rugby players hitting beaches around the world.

But there is still plenty to turn on the television for with the Championship in full swing in both codes.

And there is the US Open at Pebble Beach which will keep golf fans glued to into the late hours of Sunday night.

Here's our best bets:

Above The Rest 2.25 York Saturday 14/1

Above the Rest is fancied at York (Rui Vieira/PA Wire)

Above The Rest might prove himself just that in the JCB Handicap at York.

The David Barron-trained horse has to carry top weight here but there are reasons to think this experienced sprinter is on a nice mark again.

Last time out at Thirsk he seemed to be quietly fancied but ran into lots of trouble in the closing stages in losing by three and half lengths back in seventh place.

It was a return to form and another sign of life after an unpromising run at Ascot after a winter on the all weather.

The eight-year-old is back down to a mark of 102 and you only have to go back to June of last summer when Above The Rest was a cosy winner of a handicap at this track from a two pound higher mark.

Cork (-5) to beat Clare Sunday 2pm Evens

Clare need to pick themselves off the floor after a 18-point hammering by Limerick last weekend.

It was billed to be fierce contest but in truth All-Ireland champions Limerick were on a different level.

Most worrying for Clare fans though was the lack of resistance on show from their county and their task against the Rebels may not be any easier.

We think Cork can overcome the five point handicap and make another Munster final.

Pocket Dynamo 2.05 Sandown Saturday 9/2

Pocket Dynamo may have found his level in the Randox Health Scurry Stakes.

Robert Cowell's three-year-old has been running in group company but ran with credit behind the likes of classy pair Battash and Calyx on his latest two outings.

There doesn't look to get anything of that calibre in this field and he can pocket a nice prize in the opener.

Limerick to beat Tipperary Sunday 2pm 11/10

John Kiely's Limerick side carried on where they left off last season with an impressive League campaign.

But their Championship opener did not go to plan as they lost to Cork on their home turf.

This put a lot of pressure on them and they responded with two commanding wins over Waterford and Clare.

Sunday is a chance for them to lay down a real marker against a Tipperary side fancied by many to lift the Liam McCarthy Cup this season.

We think the Treaty County have a few more gears up their sleeve and can produce the goods.
