Weekend betting tips: Four bets that could make you a fortune

The weekend is upon us and there is plenty of opportunities to have a flutter on the sporting action.

Ireland can nearly guarantee a spot in the World Cup quarter-finals when they take on the hosts Japan on Saturday morning.

There is also top quality horse action with some of the best two years olds around on show at Newmarket.

And the Premier League is beginning to gather pace.

Here are our best bets:

Siskin 3.00 Newmarket Saturday 7/2

Siskin can retain his unbeaten record in the Juddmonte Middle Park Stakes.

His trainer Ger Lyons sidestepped a clash with the brilliant Pinatubo in the National Stakes last weekend.

But this is not necessarily an easier assignment and could arguably be the best two-year-old race run this season.

The selection started off at Naas in May and has been on an upward plane ever since with victories at Listed, Group 2 and Group 1 level.

The latter effort saw him win the Keeneland Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh where he was a shade cosy winner over Aidan O'Brien's reopposing Monarch of Egypt.

And while none of his four victories to date have been the devastating displays seen by the likes of Pinatubo, the son of First Defence has shown a huge turn of foot.

Colin Keane's mount should benefit from a strong pace, which looks nearly guaranteed in this lineup.

Japan v Ireland Saturday 8.15am: Man of the Match - Chris Farrell 18/1

Ireland are the heavy favourites to see off the host this weekend.

Joe Schmidt's side had their confidence severely dented by England in a World Cup warm-up match last month.

But they looked back to their efficient best against Scotland and few shined brighter than Chris Farrell.

The big Munster showed that he is much more than just a battering ram and his reward is a starting spot against Japan.

18/1 looks big odds on him being named the man of the match.

Majestic Dawn 3.40 Newmarket 16/1

The eye is drawn to Majestic Dawn in the bet365 Cambridgeshire Handicap.

It doesn't get any more competitive than these big field handicaps and our inclination is to look for one that hasn't got his head in front in a while.

This three-year-old lost his maiden tag in impressive style at Newbury in April and has been pitched into three big-money handicaps ever since.

The closest he came was last time out when beaten just over a length at Newbury when racing keenly and leading for most of the way before inevitably tiring in the closing stages.

If Majestic Dawn can settle a bit better into his race, he remains on a good mark and could land a big pot today.

Leicester City (-1) to beat Newcastle 4.30pm Sunday 6/4

(PA)

The Foxes made some quality additions to their side during the summer and have started this season well.

Currently in third position in the league, Brendan Rodgers side could even have a run at a Champions League spot.

And we think they will be beat a struggling Newcastle by more than one goal.
