Week 8 final injury report: Jags rule out 3 LBs vs. Jets, Dede Westbrook listed as questionable

As expected, the Jacksonville Jaguars will be without two of their starting linebackers Sunday against the New York Jets as the team ruled out both Leon Jacobs (hamstring) and Najee Goode (toe). The Jags’ No. 2 weak-side linebacker, Quincy Williams (hamstring), was ruled out, too.

Earlier in the week the Jags made a slew of moves at the linebacker position by signing Malcolm Smith, bringing back Donald Payne and promoting Joe Giles-Harris from practice squad. All three moves were an indication of the Jags’ condition at linebacker as Jacobs, Goode and Williams exited their Week 7 game against the Cincinnati Bengals with injuries. Coach Doug Marrone also hinted at the trio missing out by basically stating that the Jags signed Payne, Giles-Harris and Smith thinking they would probably see the field.

The only other player to surface on the final injury report was receiver Dede Westbrook (shoulder). However, Marrone said he was confident about the young receiver’s chances to play after he was on the field Friday as a limited participant.

The Jags will also be without starting nose tackle Marcell Dareus Sunday, as he was placed on injured reserve after having core muscle surgery.

The NewYork Jets haven’t released their full injury report, but it was reported that linebacker C.J. Mosley won’t play due to a groin injury. When the full report becomes available we’ll be sure to post it.
