Week 11 Start ’Em, Sit ’Em: Kickers and Team Defenses

Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em is the ultimate look at the best and worst matchups based on a PPR scoring system in fantasy football. This column will not cover the elite players in the NFL like Patrick Mahomes, Christian McCaffrey or Justin Jefferson. Instead, I'll look at the players you have questions about who could exceed or fail to meet expectations at each position. For all of your final fantasy lineup decisions, be sure to check out my weekly player rankings which will be updated daily throughout the 2023 NFL season.

Week 11 Start ’Em: Defenses

Start of the Week

Gregory Fisher-USA TODAY Sports

Bills defense vs. Jets (4:25 p.m. ET, CBS): The Bills defense is a top-10 fantasy option, and this week’s matchup against Zach Wilson and the Jets makes it an even better choice. Their offense has allowed 34 sacks, which is third in the league, and it’s committed 14 giveaways. Look for Buffalo to put up a nice fantasy line.

Start ’Em

Commanders defense vs. Giants (1 p.m. ET, Fox): The Commanders defense isn’t great by any stretch, especially after trading away Chase Young, but it’s hard to look past this week’s matchup against Tommy DeVito and the Giants. No team in the league has allowed more sacks, and DeVito isn’t a viable NFL starter.

Dolphins defense vs. Raiders (1 p.m. ET, CBS)

Dolphins defense vs. Raiders ($3,200)
Rams defense vs. Seahawks ($2,800)
Jets defense at Bills ($2,600)

Week 11 Sit ’Em: Defenses

Sit of the Week

Eagles defense at Chiefs (Mon. 8:15 p.m. ET, ESPN): The Eagles defense hasn’t been a great fantasy asset, and a road matchup against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs makes it a fade. While they have turned the football over 17 times, their offense has allowed a league-low 12 sacks. Fade these birds on Monday night.

Sit ’Em

Chiefs defense vs. Eagles (Mon. 8:15 p.m. ET, ESPN): The Chiefs defense has played at a high level this season, but facing Jalen Hurts and the Eagles makes it tough to start them. Their offense is averaging 28 points and 377 net yards per game, so Kansas City will have its hands full in this exciting primetime contest.

Fabs’ Top 10 Kickers
1. Jake Elliott at Chiefs (Mon.)
2. Harrison Butker vs. Eagles (Mon.)
3. Dustin Hopkins vs. Steelers
4. Brandon Aubrey at Panthers
5. Jason Myers at Rams
6. Justin Tucker vs. Bengals (Thur.)
7. Brandon McManus vs. Titans
8. Riley Patterson vs. Bears
9. Tyler Bass vs. Jets
10. Greg Joseph at Broncos (Mon.)

Byes: Colts, Falcons, Patriots, Saints

Week 11 Start ’Em: Kickers

Start of the Week

Ken Blaze/USA TODAY Sports

Dustin Hopkins vs. Steelers (1 p.m. ET, CBS): Hopkins is the best fantasy kicker in the land, and he’s still a free agent in 25% of Yahoo! leagues. What? He put up 13 points last week and has scored at least eight points in five straight games. He also put up eight fantasy points earlier this season against Pittsburgh, so start ’em.

Start ’Em

Brandon McManus vs. Titans (1 p.m. ET, CBS): McManus finished with just a trio of fantasy points last week, but he’ll bounce back in a plus matchup against the Titans. Believe it or not, but just one kicker has failed to score at least eight fantasy points against them, and six have scored double digits. McManus is a nice option.

More Starts

Jason Myers at Rams (4:25 p.m. ET, CBS)
Tyler Bass vs. Jets (4:25 p.m. ET, CBS)
Greg Joseph at Broncos (8:20 p.m. ET, NBC)

Week 11 Sit ’Em: Kickers

Sit of the Week

Chris Boswell at Browns (1 p.m. ET, CBS): Boswell is coming off a very solid, 11-point performance in a win over the Packers, but I wouldn’t chase that level of production based on this week’s matchup. The Browns defense has allowed the fifth-fewest points to kickers in the last four weeks, so keep Boswell sidelined.
