Boise State, SDSU nearly tied.
Utah State’s preseason expectations of being a conference favorite are going up in smoke after its latest loss which was a blowout defeat vs. BYU. The Aggies were fourth in our power rankings just two weeks ago and they are now seventh this week.
It was just a few weeks ago that Utah State was considered one of the best teams but the upgraded schedule combined with a loss of talent has caught up with the Aggies.
As for the top of the league, San Diego State and Boise State split the first-place votes but the Broncos hold off the Aztecs by a mere single point this week after San Diego State made a surge.
These two teams are currently on a collision course for the Mountain West title game and likely on the Blue Turf next month.
The final two spots are in a tie between New Mexico and UNLV.
