Another Glasgow restaurant has announced that it will not reopen at all following months of closure amid lockdown.
Wee Lochan in Glasgow’s west end had announced a temporary closure back in March, when eateries across the UK were forced to close their doors amid the growing coronavirus crisis.
And with news that restaurants can reopen for indoor service from July 15, many in Glasgow are preparing to welcome customers again.
However, customers will have to say their goodbyes to Wee Lochan on Crow Road - a favourite among Scottish food fans - on social media.
Owner Aisla Staniforth said on Facebook today: “Dear Friends, it is a sad day for Wee Lochan. We are closing our doors permanently. Can I take this opportunity to thank all our customers for their loyal support over the last decade. I am going to missy the chat and stories from you all. It has been a blast.”
The news from Wee Lochan follows the closure of Romans Pizzeria earlier this week, with the city centre restaurant citing the pandemic as a factor.
Concerns for Glasgow’s pubs and restaurants continue to rumble on as many question how the city’s hospitality sector will deal with social distancing measures to stop further spread of Covid-19.
Beer gardens and outdoor service areas will be allowed to open from tomorrow with indoor venues able to open later this month - here's a list of outdoor bars and eateries expected to open from Monday (July 6).
In the meantime, many will be sad to see another beloved Glasgow restaurant close its doors for good - and to staff at Wee Lochan, we wish you all the best for the future.
