Wee Belfast images show our fantastic city in a brilliant new way while raising money for charity

Belfast is home to some instantly recognisable places which have been photographed from all angles and in all seasons.

But a new range of images showcasing the city from a new but typically Belfast perspective are taking the internet by storm with their creative and unique perspective.

A keen photographer in her spare time, Claire Towe established 'Wee Belfast' after hosting an Instagram takeover on the Belfast Live brand account.

And as she admits herself, what started out as a fun hobby has turned into her passion.

"I began this project in 2017 when I was approached by Belfast Live to host a takeover on their Instagram page, said Claire.

"Each scene has been carefully curated to capture the essence of Belfast, more so evident by the names I give each one - a further nod to Belfast localisms.

"But, what started out as something fun has most definitely grown into a passion. As well as building the wee_belfast Instagram page, I’ve released some of the most popular scenes as high quality A3 prints for people to buy."

The Brand Partnership Manager has also recently commissioned a new print with the aim of raising awareness and funds for breast cancer.

"Just recently, I launched ‘Baps Out’ to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  This scene features a tiny figure named Barbara who appears topless in front of two Belfast Baps.

"For each one of these prints sold during October, £5 will be donated to Action Cancer so they can continue their vital breast screening services.

"It is my mission to raise as much funds for this charity as possible as they receive no regular government funding and practically all of their fundraising events have been cancelled due to Covid."

Claire has also further plans to expand her 'wee' business and is also looking forward to doing more work for local charitiies.

"It’s a very exciting time for the brand as I’m about to launch a special collection with We are Born and Bred who will be selling my work in store and online via their website. I also have lots of other exciting ideas for future charity and brand collaborations, so watch this space!"
