The quote
"Where we're at the first quarter of the season is probably where we deserve to be. We've left some points out there and we have some points maybe we shouldn't have gotten. We know we have to be better. The ground we lost, we want to make sure this next quarter we progress and put ourselves in a better spot than where we are today." -- Hawks coach Joel Quenneville
Roster report
With Shaw back, winger Jeremy Morin was a healthy scratch for the Hawks along with defenseman David Rundblad. Winger Patrick Sharp missed his eighth consecutive game with a right knee injury. Sitting for the Avalanche were Erik Johnson (head), John Mitchell and Ben Street.
