Storm Dudley winds force Glasgow easyJet flight to abort landing

An easyJet flight into Glasgow was forced into an aborted landing this afternoon due to high winds linked to Storm Dudley .

Flight EZY191G from Bristol attempted to land at Glasgow Airport around 3:55pm but was forced to take off again while on final approach.

Flightradar24 live tracking data shows the plane quickly gained altitude to a height of around 5,000 feet after aborting its first attempt at touchdown just 2,250 feet from the ground.

The airliner performed a sweeping 'go-around' manoeuvre in the skies above Strathclyde, taking in Paisley, Newton Mearns, Coatbridge and Cumbernauld before heading back towards the airport.

Teen charged in connection with death of James 'Chucky' Ross as younger boy released

A man has been charged following the death of James 'Chucky' Ross in Cumbernauld after a murder investigation was launched.

Cops confirmed the 18-year-old had been arrested and charged in connection with the death of James on Monday, February 14.

The 27-year-old was seriously injured during a disturbance in the Abronhill Shopping Centre on Larch Road, Abronhill, at around 4.30pm.

A murder investigation, led by Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Team , was launched yesterday following a post mortem investigation.

Scotland snow warning issued as 'blizzard' weather with Storm Eunice forecast

As Storm Dudley and Eunice hit Scotland in a one-two punch this week, snow is predicted to follow in their wake with temperatures as low as -10C.

The Met Office has just issued a wind and snow warning covering central and southern Scotland for Friday, February 18.

"Storm Eunice may cause disruption due to heavy snow and some strong winds on Friday," reads the Met Office's weather warning.

Scots prisoner caught with mobile phone sticking out his bum during search by jail staff

A prisoner bent over during a search and revealed a mobile phone sticking out of his backside.

Grant Macbeth was serving a four-year jail term when he was caught with the phone wedged in his bottom inside Castle Huntly prison.

Fiscal depute Stewart Hamilton told Perth Sheriff Court : "The accused was subjected to a search within his cell.

"The prison officers saw a small black object protruding from the accused's anus. He was ordered to hand the item over, which he did. It was observed to be a small mobile phone.”

Two new Michelin stars for Scotland with restaurants in Perthshire and Glasgow named

Two top chefs in Scotland are celebrating this morning after news they'd received a Michelin star .

The influential guide, which has just released its 2022 version, named Sixteen new restaurants across the UK that have now been given Bib Gourmand status last week.

It has now revealed the 19 restaurants across the country that are now deemed worthy of its top award.
